GENERAL INFORMATION

‘Fish Northumbria’ offers you the angler the chance to experience some excellent game fishing opportunities in idyllic settings, on fisheries and rivers that produce good sport. ‘Fish Northumbria’ gives you the chance to enjoy the best of Northumbrian hospitality and scenery you’ve dreamed of. Added to this are opportunities in Cumbria and the Scottish Borders too. The area has some fine fishing but also historical bounties to interest anyone. One can never guarantee to catch fish but the chances are very good indeed.

David Carrick has over 40 years experience fishing for trout, salmon and sea-trout on river, streams, lakes and reservoirs throughout Northumbria, Cumbria and Scotland. In addition to this he has also had over 34 years teaching experience. This offers beginners and anglers with limited experience an introduction to game fishing without feeling inhibited or threatened. The aims of ‘Fish Northumbria’ are to give anglers a great day or a few days out enjoying what Northumbria, Co Durham, Cumbria or the Scottish Borders have to offer. There are great opportunities here for families and ‘Fish Northumbria’ will give you and your family advice on where to go and what to see. We can even work out an itinerary to suit your interests and likes to enhance your holiday break. While you are fishing your family can be enjoying something else in the area. We can even plan your walks for you or give you suggestions for cycling etc.

Whether you want to fish the Tyne or a smaller productive Scottish Border river the opportunities are there. From days afloat on the magnificent Lake Ullswater in the Lake District, to fishing for native wild brown trout or tramping the banks of a reservoir such as Upper Teesdale’s Cow Green or Haweswater in Lakeland; these experiences are all available to the angler.

For the angler’s family, a visit to Rheged in Lakeland or Brockhole near Windermere, Durham Cathedral or low level walking can all be arranged for you. Hadrian’s Wall and the Northumbrian Castles and beaches are a great experience for visitors as is the Metro Centre or the Quayside in Newcastle.

WHAT IS ON OFFER?

Day visits for local and visiting anglers alike, Mini breaks of one, two or three days duration or more. Why not spoil yourself with a great visit to the North East you’ll love it. No pit heaps, no grime just superb countryside and lovely rivers, lakes and reservoirs and cracking fish too. For those who do not know the North East give it go you’ll want to come back time and time again.

We have England’s best salmon fishing river in the Tyne but there also some other fabulous rivers up here too which include: Coquet, Tees, Wear, Till and Whiteadder.

‘Fish Northumbria’ will find you the type of accommodation you want and your whole fishing experience and accommodation can be arranged by David Carrick.

Access to a wide range of rivers will mean the chance of catching fish even if the river you chose is out of order due to floods or very low levels of flow.

‘Fish Northumbria’ will endeavour to give you an alternative. The fishing will be left to David Carrick to organise as close as possible to your visit. This means a river system or lake that offers the best chance of good catches. For anglers who want a varied activity break eg; trout fishing and some sea-trout or salmon fishing can also be catered for. Stillwater trout fishing and a visit to a river for some wild brown trout fishing can be organised too.

Numbers are limited and groups of up to two anglers can be catered for at any one time. David Carrick will give you his time and he will help and advise clients during their fishing. You can have as little or much input as you require.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF FISHING WITH ‘FISH NORTHUMBRIA?’

Quite simply the flexibility of knowing that you will have some of the best fishing available at the time will be there for you and being able to move onto another river or stretch that may give you a better chance of catching those trout, salmon or sea-trout.

You will have David Carrick guiding you on where to fish and tactics to use. Flies and spinners are always available for anglers who need them. These are patterns and lures that should help you to have a better chance of catching.
