ANGLERS' COMMENTS

The following are comments from anglers on their Fish Northumbria experience:

Keith Morpeth of Newcastle

I am hooked on river fishing after a day out after winter grayling in Northumbria. Even though I didn’t catch a grayling I did hook a really big fish which unfortunately snapped me. I can’t wait to try it again.

Pat Horne, Carlisle.

The Till is a beautiful river , I can’t wait to try it again.

Barry Brown, Crook, Co Durham

I enjoyed my day out on the River Till, the surrounding countryside is superb and there are plenty of fish to be caught.

Fishing Ullswater for wild brown trout is one of the best days I have ever had since I started trout fishing. I am now looking for my own boat. I caught four lovely wild brown trout on small flies on my first spring visit in 2003.

Ian Barnett, Woolsingham, Co Durham

A day out on Ullswater opened my eyes as far as trout fishing goes. After fishing stocked waters the lure of the wild fish gave me great pleasure. I even caught some wild brown trout on my first visit.

Paul Burn, South Shields

First ever day out on the Rede and I caught a sea-trout, now for a salmon!

Bob Crawford, Bolton. ‘I could not believe catching a 9lb Tyne salmon on my first cast. It was the first salmon I’ve caught. I’ll be back again next year. Thank you for all the help you gave us on a really enjoyable visit to the Tyne.’

Harvey Marchbank of Leeds - ‘I thoroughly enjoyed my two days with ‘Fish Northumbria. I caught a 5lb sea-trout and an 8lb salmon. The brunch I had on the banks of the Tyne was delicious and kept me going all day’.

Andrew Carmichael of Leeds said. ‘I had a great day out with Fish Northumbria and caught my first ever salmon weighing 15lb 8oz. I’ve had it photographed from all angles. I also caught two 3lb to 4lb sea-trout’.

Matthew Rawnsley from Yorkshire. ‘I loved the days on the Tyne and the wildlife seen including the kingfishers. I caught the largest sea-trout I’ve ever caught as previously I’d only caught them to 2lb. The 9lb sea-trout I caught on the Tyne gave me a real thrill and a real battle.’

Tony Ball from Leicestershire said ‘I loved fishing the Rede. I saw many fish and caught a sea-trout. I wish I’d held on to the two salmon that took me in successive casts, it would have made my visit complete. Oh and by the way we loved our ‘brunch’ on the river bank’.

Bob Ball his brother was delighted with the two salmon and two sea-trout he caught on his visit.
